Modern miracles

There are – in reality – many recent accounts of miraculous happenings even in our own time. It is certainly important to approach such stories with an attitude of critical discernment but too many convinced atheists are unwilling to look at the evidence dispassionately: they are so sure of being right that they will not even consider the matter. Yet all Christian churches have honest, intelligent members who genuinely believe in the power of the supernatural because they have seen it with their own eyes or have come to know others whose lives have been completely transformed by the miraculous. Padre Pio is an example of an extraordinary 20th century Catholic priest, concerning whom there are hundreds (if not thousands) of recorded events that cannot be rationally explained away. The Anglican Alpha Course publishes books with many deeply moving personal testimonies. Many Protestant groups have their stories to tell of convincing intervention by the Holy Spirit in our present times.
