The Catholic Church teaches that abortion is fundamentally wrong:
“The direct interruption of the generative process already begun and, above all, all direct abortion, even for therapeutic reasons, are to be absolutely excluded as lawful means of regulating the number of children.” (Humanae Vitae, para. 14)
The Church has been both criticised and admired for this stance. The following pages contain some reflections by the author of this site on certain aspects of the abortion debate.
See also the pages about:
Bernhard Nathanson (former director of the largest western abortion clinic) and
Norma McCorvey (“Jane Roe” in the landmark US abortion case),
both in the Converts section.
And this other site has some other good quotations about the reality of abortion.
